Representative VanOrman Hosts DIstrict 52's Business Leaders

From The Sandy Post:

Rep. Suzanne VanOrman hosted a roundtable discussion for local small-business owners and Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce members July 17 to share what she is doing in the capitol for small local businesses and to listen to suggestions about what other steps she could take.

VanOrman talked about her work in Salem to increase the availability of capital for small businesses in Oregon.

“All the business owners I have talked to have told me how tight bank lending is right now,” VanOrman said. “We have to recognize that small business is the engine that drives this economy and do what we can to provide them with the capital they need.”

Several Sandy shop owners told VanOrman business would be better if traffic lights on Highway 26 worked, slowing motorists passing through town. The traffic lights now work, and VanOrman claimed credit.

“It sounds like a simple thing, but these basic government services can make a big difference for businesses,” she said. “After the meeting, my office contacted the Oregon Department of Transportation and we got those Sandy stoplights working again.”

Van Orman, a Democrat who represents Sandy and Hood River, is seeking re-election this fall.
