Firefighters to Rally this Saturday in Support of Greg Matthews
100 FIREFIGHTERS TO RALLY THIS SATURDAY IN SUPPORT OF GREG MATTHEWS
Oregon House Majority Leader Dave Hunt, Gresham Mayor Shane Bemis, and Oregon State Firefighter Council President Kelly Bach to Speak
100 Firefighters from Gresham and across Oregon will rally this Saturday, September 20 in support of Greg Matthews, Candidate for State Representative, House District 50, at Red Sunset Park on 2403 NE Red Sunset Drive. The rally begins at 11:00 AM and features speeches from House Majority Leader Dave Hunt, Gresham Mayor Shane Bemis, Oregon State Firefighter Council President Kelly Bach, and Candidate Greg Matthews.
“Oregon’s firefighters are rallying behind Greg Matthews because he represents the best traditions of public service,” said Oregon State Firefighter Council President Kelly Bach. “Greg’s commitment to his community and devotion to public safety will make him a great State Representative,” added Mayor Bemis.
Following the rally, 100 firefighters and campaign volunteers will take to the street and knock on doors to spread the word about Matthews’ campaign. A barbeque, refreshments, and live music are scheduled to follow. All supporters and community members are encouraged to join.
A twenty-two year veteran of Gresham public safety, Matthews spent eleven years as an officer for the Gresham police force before joining Gresham Fire and Emergency Services where he has spent the last eleven years at Station 71. Matthews is running for State Representative in Oregon House District 50 and currently serves as the President of Gresham Professional Firefighters Local 1062.
